I will personally say that I purchased this when my son was only about 3 or 4. The colors are bold and it allowed him to recognize colors and how to put pieces together - even at an early age! - Just another thing to take into consideration if you feel that the child you are interested in purchasing for is too young. Like many products from Discovery Toys, there is a variety of ways to play! :)
